Movin' On

My town has a lot of windy roads. When I first got my license I was so terrified of them because they have such sharp turns and deep shoulders. Towards the end of high school, I would wait for the weather to get to that perfect temperature and just drive. Windows down, country music blaring and I was set. I had a lot of good talks with myself and sorted through a lot of high school drama on those roads. So today, the weather was just right and I kept driving past my neighborhood and took the long way home. I have a huge case of old CDs that I made in high school and from time to time will pop one of them in. Movin' On by Rascal Flatts came on and not only are they my favorite band but the song was so fitting for this transitional point in my life. This is exactly how I am feeling right now.

I've lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they're always the same
They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it
They'll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong
I'm movin' on

Didn't end up getting the bench from the last post but got so much stuff at the best place on Earth... IKEA!! I mean where else can you get a $20 coffee table and a side table for $8. Amazing! Signed my lease and sent that out the landlord today. Starting work in the 23rd, moving into my apartment the first of September!

Ch-ch-changes!

Man oh man, such a whirlwind couple of weeks. Let's backtrack for a moment.

-Did not get the job that I mentioned in my last post. Went in an met with everyone in the office, thought it went well, but they told me they wanted someone with more experience. Forget the fact that I told them starting out that I had just graduated when I noticed that the job description wanted minimum 3 years experience. They said not to worry.

-Had a fabulous NYC weekend with Mom and Sister. Met up with my girls for dinner Friday night, went to the Central Park Zoo and Yankees Stadium for Old Timer's Day on Saturday, and saw Wicked on Sunday. LOVED LOVED LOVED it! Run, do not walk to see Wicked. It was wonderful and there were some unexpected twists that I did not see coming. Wish I could have seen it when it opened with Idina and Kristen. Have been listening to the soundtrack non stop.

-Watching SYTYCD on my DVR and my predictions since they are getting rid of two people this week my votes are Jose and Adechike. Anyone else watching? What are your thoughts.

And finally.....

-Perhaps I should change the name of this blog to 'California Born, Virginia Raised, New York Living' because I am moving to New York!!!!!! Those of you that have been around for a while may remember my internship last summer that I just loved. Was all set to go back and some things happened and I was unable to return. Well things must happen for a reason and after two months of  emailing and resumeing (yes I made that word up) and interviewing and nothing working out, I can go back to plan A. Found a studio with a super short commute to work and a quick train ride into Manhattan and I couldn't be happier. Yay yay yay!

I am SO excited to finally be able to have a place of my own to decorate and shop for! So in honor of my new digs, as well my first participation in Pink and Green Thursday I wanted to share this ottoman that I found! There was no price tag (which means its free) and Madre and I are going today to make sure it is still there!

The colors are a little hard to make out from this photo but there is hunter green, yellow, red, and pink stripes in the fabric. The couch and chair my parents gave me for my townhouse at school is a pretty close match for the green so I think it will be a good match! Reminds me of this...

I am beyond thrilled for this new chapter in my life. I hope you will all tune in to my fun and adventures!

Summer Rain

Well, the weather today has been nothing short of dreadful. Its been gray, muggy, and raining off and on all day. The downpour just ended a little bit ago, which makes me happy as I am going out to BFF K's birthday dinner in about an hour and obviously rain does not bode well for my hair

Let me just say that T*im McGr*aw was wonderful in concert. He is ridiculously hot and a fabulous performer. He pulled a little girl up from the audience and twirled her around during Tiny Dancer and it just melted my heart. Roommate L had the best time as well. She won't be trading the NYC lights for boys in cowboy hats any time soon but she did really enjoy herself! Lady A was great as well! The only crummy part of the evening was the fact that it took us an hour and a half to get out of the parking lot. I am going to call and complain because all of the people hired to direct traffic were just standing around and it was pretty much a free for all to get out.

Picked up a book about a detox cleanse today. L recommended it and is starting the cleanse today. Its three weeks and from what I can tell so far of the book and the website people seem to have pretty great results with it. Yes please! Now if only I could figure out what half of these organic roots and such I am supposed to be eating. As my mom put it, it sounds like I will be eating grass for three weeks. I have a pretty lousy digestive system so anything that is going to help in that arena is a welcomed change.

Job interview tomorrow! I am not too nervous as I have already had a lengthy phone conversation with the hiring manager and he gave me some good tips of things to know going into tomorrow. Fingers crossed everyone! I NEED AN INCOME, my bank account is dwindling fast.

I was told recently that if I don't already have my baby names picked out that I do not want children. Mind you I haven't even been able to consume alcohol in public for a full 365 days yet but I am supposed to have picked out the names of my future not even close to being ANYWHERE on my radar offspring? I think not.

Take time to realize...

So my phone interview went well and I will be going up to have a face to face next week. Yayyy!

Just a few realizations that have come to me today...

-While doing my laundry I had 17 pairs of Han*ky Pa*nkys. My drawer was nowhere near being empty so perhaps I have an unhealthy underwear obsession.

-Must get back on some sort of workout/diet routine. No more excuses as I am no longer at school and living across from a pizza place and 2 doors down from 'the bar'.

-Summer is flying by and my birthday is next month!

-Freshman year I had a rubber band shaped like a flamingo. I think that now four years later I would say that I may or may not have started this Silly*band craze? ;)

-I have never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's! An absolute tragedy I will admit, but I spotted a copy of it at Target today so it is now in my possession and will be watched soon!

-2 DAYS UNTIL LA*DY A*NTEBELLUM! YAYYYY!

In other news, BLC at The Company She Keeps is giving away an adorable Lilly tote! Check it out!

Yay!

You all must have been sending good vibes to the Employment Fairy because the same day as my last post I heard back about two jobs I had applied to!! Reading the job descriptions makes me nervous though because I just graduated! Granted I have had internships but how am I going to translate what I learned in school to a real life job? Ahh!!

On a more fun note not so much for my bank account, stopped into Anthro the other day... If I could I would live in a world completely decked out in Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, and Ikea. That is all I would need to survive. Well, that and sushi as well! Picked up this cute top that I am going to wear to the concert next weekend with some denim shorts and my black Jack Rogers.

It was on sale too! What could be better?!

To settle the debate of are we are aren't we when it comes to Virginia and its membership in the South club, I found this article that I thought was pretty interesting. Let me know your thoughts! Maybe one day we will have West Virginia, Northern Virginia, and Virginia? Doubtful. 51 states just doesn't sound right... I am completely against odd numbers. :)

Have a fabulous 4th of July Weekend everyone!!
