I am not terribly sure why, but I felt compelled to write a blog post today. It is hard to believe that it has been nearly two years since I posted here but in the same vein, it feels like it has been even longer. Much has changed for me and I don't know if I will be back updating on a regular basis, but I just wanted to stop in and say a little hello. Maybe it's more so for me than for you {if this is even reaching any of you, I can't figure out this new Blogger layout so maybe I have no more followers or readers}. So, what have I been up to since May 2011? Here is the abridged version...
- Started dating someone in late August, didn't last too long but the lessons I learned, not only about myself but also about what it is that I am looking for in someone, will last forever. In summation, ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT LADIES! I thought at first that I was being too picky or that I had been too narrow minded, but if its not working one month in, its not going to work further down the road. Trust.
- In November I got the itch to start looking for a new job. A few interviews followed, but then winter rolled around and of course I went into hibernation mode.
- January 2012 I had emergency surgery. I had been feeling a
- little off around that time of the month and had unfortunately been putting off the doctor's visit. I had my friend take me to the ER one night in excruciating pain and the CAT scan revealed that I had a baseball sized cyst on my right ovary. 12 hours later, my mom was by my side as I came out of surgery and luckily all vital baby-making parts are still in tact.
- My lease in my apartment was up at the end of February. Timing worked out in impeccably and I was able to move to the big bad island of Manhattan with a sorority sister from college. What up Upper East Side?! No, it is not like Gossip Girl. I would be rolling in the dough if I were paid every time someone not of NY asked me that question. I made the move knowing that I would have to do the reverse commute to get to my job in the suburbs. It ended up being 1.5 hours door to door, but required me to take the subway, train, bus,
ferryboat, helicopter which would have been alright had this been the "dream job". I had an interview the first morning of my commute and a week later got the job!
- I started working at my new job at the end of March, I cannot believe it has been almost a year! Time really has flown. A month after I started my entire team left the company. It was just me for the majority of the summer, with some support from our outside consultants. It really was a 0 to 60 learning curve, but I can't even express to you how much I have grown professionally this past year.
- In June, two of my lovely high school friends became engaged and both asked me to be a bridesmaid! It was quite funny that their boys proposed one day apart, and I am so looking forward to being a part of their big days. The first of which is actually this weekend. I have my bags packed and am leaving for the airport right from work this evening.
- In July I was able to travel to Virginia Beach to see my best friend {one of the engaged ladies previously mentioned}. It was such a a great R&R trip and even though we communicate with at least a text or email daily, it was great to see her, her fiance, and adorable puppy dog and get in some quality beach time.

- In August I celebrated my golden birthday, 24 on the 24th! I quickly realized that few people had any idea what I was talking about when I mentioned it was my golden birthday. Anyone? Bueller? I happened to be 'down the shore' as the New Jersey folks refer to it, which made for a wonderful celebration with great friends.
- Sometime after that trip in July, I decided I wanted to get into some kind of shape and have more of a love/love relationship with my body and my fitness level. To date, I have lost 25 pounds and run 2 5Ks! I am ready for spring to come back around so that I can get back into the habit of Central Park running and I have about 12 more pounds to go to get to my ultimate goal. I haven't seen these first two numbers on the scale since 9th grade!!
- In October 2012, I found out that I am gluten intolerant. It was a relief to know where my tummy troubles were coming from but it was a tough adjustment because this chick loves bread. Give me a bread basket over a chocolate cake any day! Luckily enough, New York City is the mecca of all that is trendy, even diets. While this isn't an optional life change for me {my blood work was off the charts} I am glad to live in a city where there are gluten free choices popping up all over the place. The other day I found the cutest gluten free bakery with delicious sweet treats. I had really been craving a cupcake!
Phew! Did you follow all of that?! I think that about wraps up the highlights of my time away from Blog Land. Add in many laughs, weekend trips, new friends, old friends, getting rid of some friends {a story that certainly requires its own post}, brunches{a mainstay in my life, you haven't lived until you have had a lengthy NYC mimosa brunch}, long phone calls with my mother, and that's where I am today. I am at such a good place in my life personally and professionally. If anybody is reading, I would love to hear what you have been up to in my absence as well. Or more simply, just leave me a link to your blog and I will take it from there ;) Happy Valentine's Day to all!
