Monday, boo!

Hello everyone! Here we are at another Monday! This Monday starts my second week of work! Woo! It has been pretty easy to get back into the swing of things and I am glad that I still enjoy what I am doing! I was a little nervous thinking "What if I really liked this as an intern and not so much as an employee?" But I am pleased to report that is not the case! Spent Friday night in NYC with my favorite group of girls. It was a belated birthday celebration for me as I celebrated the one year anniversary of my 21st birthday last Tuesday! I am glad to be an even number age again... I have a strange dislike for odd numbers.

Moving along... I am realizing just how much of a good decision I made in deciding to live in a studio for this next year. It is getting hard for me living out of my Vera Bradley duffel bags and having to be on someone else's time schedule. I am very thankful that I have friends in the area that I was able to stay with until my lease starts on WEDNESDAY (yay!) but it has been difficult not being able to come and go as I please. And also I haven't had a laptop since the one I ordered isn't being delivered until tomorrow and my parents are going to bring it up on Saturday with the rest of my things.

Hope you all had wonderful weekends! The lovely Positively Preppy in Pink tagged me recently and I will answer the questions soon!

PS. My next post will be number 100! How fun!
ETA. Just wanted to clarify that I am not living in Manhattan, I am just north of the city. Don't want anyone to think that I misled them!

Finally.

Barely made it to New York alive... that may be a bit melodramatic but it was a LONG drive and the weather was terrible. Sorry for the lack of updates... my laptop went to Computer Heaven and I am waiting for a new one to arrive in a couple weeks. I figure I will take this time to remove myself a bit from technology, get my mind around being in the working world. Tomorrow is the big day! I am not too nervous as I know the ways of the office and such from last summer but still, I am an actual employee now not just an intern. Fingers crossed for a successful first day!

Hot hot hot!

Hello lovelies! It is insanely hot here today! We had a few days of really great weather and now we are back to the inferno outside. Molly figured out the little riddle in the last post title. I might be the last living fan of Han*son, but I still think they are great! They just came out with a new CD and its very different from their MmmBop days, more alternative rock less "Are those girls or boys playing those instruments?" pop stuff. I was talking to a friend recently about how ridiculous it is that Justin Bi*eber is writing his memoir at the age of 16 but then I had to remind myself that I did in fact own the box set of Hanson brothers autobiographies and every teeny bop magazine cover they were on. To this day I still love a good boy band. ;)

Just called today and got my cable, Internet, and electricity hooked up in my apartment! Guess this means its really happening. I have just been putting it off and putting it off in my mind but I am finally heading to the other side of the Mason Dixon Line on Saturday or early Sunday and start work Monday morning! I am not too nervous as I already know the people in my office and it is a very friendly environment, but I think it is a bit different now that this is my job, not just my internship. My second day of work happens to be my BIRTHDAY! Woohoo!

Expect lots of photos and fun things once I start to settle in to my new home! I have been wanting to post a giveaway for SO LONG and I think this will be the perfect opportunity to do so!

Because I cannot go too long without referencing horrible reality TV, anyone watching Dating in the Dark? I think this show is pretty genius!

Isn't it weird, isn't it strange?

Realizing that in a couple weeks I will not be headed back to college, going through the long hours of preparation for Recruitment, and anxiously awaiting our newest pledge class is a hard pill to swallow. For those (any) of you getting ready to go through the sorority recruitment process, best of luck! Wear cute and comfortable clothes, but don't obsess over every tiny detail of your outfit. Ask questions, without being too invasive. I know for my school there are certain topics that we are not allowed to talk about with potential new members, and diverting those questions is always a bit uncomfortable. More importantly, BE YOURSELF! I cannot stress that one enough. I actually enjoyed the recruitment process. Yes, it can be stressful but if you are true to yourself and the reasons why you want to join a sorority you will wind up exactly where you are meant to be. I can't imagine being in any sorority other than mine.

My birthday always fell on the first or second day of classes in college, so I think it is pretty fitting this year that my birthday is my second day of work. And if I trick myself into thinking that my apartment is a misplaced dorm room, I think I will be alright. I am excited to show you guys my little studio and get advice on decorating and such! It is going to be fun. The only thing I still need is a TV but the parentals and I will be scooping that up soon.

Really considering breaking down and getting a Twitter. I really don't know who I would be 'following' other than celebs and news publications. That cannot be good for my celeb gossip problem. Any thoughts on Twitter/tweeting/tweeps?

PS. Did anyone get the reference in the title of this blog post? If you did, leave a comment and be my new best friend.

Humpity Hump (day)

Happy Wednesday to all (at least for another 45 minutes). How has the first half of you week gone? I am just settling into this weeks episode of Top Chef DC, as if you expected me to be doing something intellectually stimulating. Despite being taped in my backyard, this season isn't quite doing it for me. Thoughts?

I decided to play along with Wee Bit of Me Wednesdays from a new blog I stumbled upon today. I love how that happens. I can get lost for hours just hopping from one awesome blog to the next. So here goes nothin'. You should play too!

{one} what website do you spend the most time on?
people.com, so embarrassing.

{two} what's the furthest you've ever traveled?
lived in japan for three years when i was younger.

{three} what's your guilty pleasure tv show?
degrassi, although it isn't as good as it was years ago.

{four} if you had to give up one favorite food, what would be the hardest?
bread. i am SUCH a carbohydrate fiend. big loaf of bread with olive oil or a chocolate cake? i am taking the bread for sure.

{five} if you could become any fictional character, who would you be?
well i know elizabeth gilbert is not fictional but i would love to take a year and travel the world the way she did.

{six} what's your favorite season of the year?
fall hands down. i live for chunky sweaters, scarves, and crunchy leaves.

{seven} what's your biggest phobia?
this is so insane, but the trucks that have the things that carry cars, i have an irrational fear that the cars are going to come loose and crush me whenever im driving behind one of them.

{eight} would you rather swim in a pool or the ocean?
i cant say that i swim often, but when im in need of a quick cool off from laying out i would go with the pool.

{nine} what did you eat for breakfast today?
two slices of toast, one with butter and one with peanut butter.

{ten} if you could only listen to one song for the next month, which song would it be?
loving 'if i die young' by the band perry, such a good song and someone described the band perfectly as a cross between lady antebellum and alison krauss.

Things I Do Not Understand.

- How is it already 3pm? I have a lot to do today and the hours are flying by. Forget the fact that I have been blog hopping for a significant chunk of time. Oops.

- Scented disposable razors. WHAT?! Both brands that I have purchased recently have huge exclaiming print on the packaging NOW WITH SCENTED HANDLES!! I am not going to take the time to smell my razor while shaving my legs, nor is this scent strong enough to serve as a some sort of shower air freshener so I deem this completely pointless.

- Why is it that iTu*ne*s will release each song on a soon-to-be-released CD as a single each week leading up to the full CD being available? I am sure there are all sorts of marketing tactics and ploys behind this that I, a Computer Science major, do not care to understand but it bugs me. Such a tease! Side note: Katy Perry's new CD is going to be pretty fab. I am resisting the urge to buy her new single, but who knew the girl could actually sing behind her neon blue wigs and dresses made of plastic wrap?

- Why do I continue to watch The Ba*chelor/ B*achelorette? EVERY season is THE MOST DRAMATIC FINAL ROSE CEREMONY WE HAVE EVER HAD! And then who is surprised when they break up? Not I or any one else for that matter. Have I from time to time looked up certain ex-contestants on Twitter. Yes. Am I going to watch The Bachelor Pad yet because I want to hug the genius who decided to combine The Bachelor/Survivor/Big Brother? Of course! Unless that genius is the producer that they interviewed on the 20/20 special. He gave me the creeps with his sketchy leather jacket and scraggly beard.

- The entire Du*ggar Family. I am not one to harp on other people's life choices. I fully believe that we would all be much better off if we stopped worrying about what other people are doing, but that is an entirely separate post. But in this instance, this family has brought America and our reality television junky selves into their lives. Therefore, I feel as though I am able to say, STOP HAVING KIDS! I truly hope that the complications that they endured with this last pregnancy will convince them to really put a lid on things. And perhaps with all their money from TV fame they can purchase their kid's clothing somewhere other than Goodwill. I will say that I have a strong disdain for odd numbers, so 20 kids sets my mind at ease more.. if they were to ever ask me my opinion.

- How does anyone not watch Ma*d M*en?! You are missing out in a serious way if you haven't been keeping up with Don, Roger, and the rest of those cool cats. I know we've all got our shows that we follow in an almost religious pilgrimage sort of way but this really is a fantastic show. Season 4 just started and all of the previous seasons are on DVD/somewhere free on the interwebs if you are feeling adventurous and want to risk getting a nasty computer virus. I do not recommend the latter.

- Why would there ever be a need in this world for a Mari*lyn Manso*n remix of Love Game? I love me some Ga*Ga like you don't even know but I strongly object to this mash-up of craziness.

And what have we all learned from this post, MLD needs to stop trying to figure out anything having to do with TV and celebs. I have a life I promise. ;)
