Horrible, No Good, VERY Bad!

Oh girls.. Let me just tell you about my terrible date with Boy from the Bar. I should have known it was going to be less than stellar but I had NO idea of the terrible turns it was going to take. Let me preface by saying that I have never done this before.. We dont have a lot of bars in my small Virginian town so my history with meeting guys has been through a friend or something of that sort, and no one goes on traditional dates in college.. at least not at mine. So this was pretty much a first for me. I sat at the bar, started chatting with him last weekend and he says "Give me your number, I WANT TO TAKE YOU OUT." Hold on to that little tidbit for a moment.

He wanted to go to a night club. Strike 1. I dont have any desire to submerse myself in a huge crowd of sweaty gyrating people so I quickly dismiss this. There's a sushi place that I went to last summer that Ive really been wanting to go back to so I suggest that. I mention that there is other food besides sushi, but he asks IF HE CAN GET A CHEESEBURGER when we sit down. Obviously if it is a sushi buffet, there will be other JAPANESE food, not food you can go snag quickly from McDonalds. This was Strike 3 because if you remember, the Facebook poke was Strike 2.

Brace yourselves for what happened next. In a joking way he says "So youre paying for both of us right?" And I was like "Hm.. nope" and he says "Well I would rather not pay for your dinner." Girls... my jaw hit the floor. I begin to get sort of hostile and bitchy watching him eat with his hand in a fist clenched tightly around his fork. He wasnt sure if he had ever had shrimp before.. and didnt know what to do with the tail. I then had to coach him through how to eat a spare rib. I suggest that he tries some sushi and he tells me he already has. No genius, thats SHRIMP. He admits that he mixed up the S words.

He goes back to the buffet and gets some sushi and then UNROLLS IT WITH HIS HANDS, asks me if he is supposed to eat the seaweed and I can feel my skin begin to crawl. I immediately tell him that I dont think I will be able to make the movie as I have to go into work earlier than I expected tomorrow, or some combination of BS. He keeps asking if he did anything or said something and I very calmly say "I would suggest next time maybe not to lead with telling a girl you would rather not pay for your dinner." He then says that this is just to test out the waters, he pays on the second date and assures me that HE IS NOT CHEAP. Oh, that makes sense. Before I could even think the words "AND THE GIRLS COME BACK?!" quickly escaped my mouth. He assures me that they do.

I was just really irritated. And I'm not the kind of girl that expects men to just fall at her feet and do everything for her. I am VERY independent and my mom tells me that it can often ward off guys who are looking for the insecure, clingy type. But I do feel that if you ask a girl out, you pay for her dinner. I don't think I am so wrong in that. Granted I suggested the restaurant, but he wasn't putting in any other feedback and he agreed that we could go there. It was clear that we just didnt have much in common. Different backgrounds and different interests, but live and learn right?

*On a better note, after I left ran away I met my cousin at a bar for a drink to calm myself down. I was heading to the bathroom when this guy comes out of the women's bathroom and warns me that someone spilt a drink all over the floor in there. Not his fault that he was in the wrong restroom, the sign was confusing. We chat for a bit, I tell him about my terrible night and he tells me he's going to take me out AND pay for my dinner. He's calling me today! :-D

Happy Friday Lovelies!!! Sorry for the rant... Am I wrong in my thinking? Please do tell!

One more thing.

The always fabulous Mrs. Newlywed is hosting a great giveaway. Check it out!

Happy Hump Day!

This post is going to be a mish mash of a lot of things... So I think a list will do the trick.

*It's Wednesday.. so I officially have a week and a half left of my internship. Summer flewwww by. Just a few more weeks until I am reunited with all my friends who were abroad last semester and starting senior year of with a bang.

*Going out with boy from the bar tomorrow. He poked me on Facebook. I don't know if I like that. I'm sure there will be stories to follow.

*Finished up Chasing Harry Winston and I was pretty disappointed in the ending. I know that things cant go on forever but I always feel left hanging when books and movies just sort of stop. I have now started reading Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster and she is so unbelievably funny. I was cracking up last night on the bike at the gym.

*Anyone else a Bachelorette fan? I personally loved Ed. I think he is so cute and funny and I think they will actually work out unlike so many of the previous couples. Did anyone else think that Reid was being sort of rude? He had his opportunity and he left. I think his expectations of her just melting into his arms were unrealistic. But then again.. nothing like a 6 week whirlind romance puts the reality in Reality TV.

*I am well on my way to finishing up the second season of Mad Men before season 3 begins on August 16th. This show is just too good.. if you arent watching you are definitely missing out.

*I am participating in my first swap! I have the pleasure of being paired with a great woman and fellow Virginian. I hope she enjoys the goodies I picked out for her!

*It is raining. No surprise there. I'm making a grilled cheese sandwich because I have zero food here and there's little point to going to the grocery store when Im only here for another week and a half. And then I will settle in for some Mad Men. Don Draper is beyond beautiful.

Cheers to the week being half over. Hope its been a great one!

Weekend Recap!

Had a very productive and enjoyable weekend as my time in Nueva York is winding down. Where did this summer go?! Can't say it was much in the weather department as we have been plagued with terrible weather and as a result my skin is less than bronzed. Friday night went to a birthday get together for a friend of my roommate L. She actually went to my university freshman year and then transferred. Wish I had known her while I was there because she was really fun and easy going. From there L, her friend from high school, and myself headed out to see The Ugly Truth. It was HYSTERICAL! Predictable yes, as I am sure we all could tell from the previews what the plot was but Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler were great together.. not to mention he is absolutely gorgeous. When we got out of the movie we were greeted by a torrential down pour of rain and the unfortunate realization that we parked in the very BACK of the parking lot. Needless to say we were soaked.

Saturday I did some laundry, and headed over t0 the mall to meet one of my sorority sisters who just graduated. It was really great to see her and who doesnt love shopping! I picked out the watch that I will hopefully be getting for my birthday from my parents (28 days!).

**LOVE IT!

I cashed in my gift cards and got my Raybans! I love them.. their look is so classic. Stopped into J.Crack for a bit.. got some tortoise hair clips and cute headband. And from there headed to Anthropologie. I could seriously live in that store. I want my future fantasy apartment to contain everything from that store. I tried on a ton of dresses as I have a wedding reception to attend for a high school friend in a few weeks. I would have bought them all but that would have been extreme. I purchased this one...

It is adorable, but I am not completely sold on wearing it to this event. I havent seen a lot of the people attending since we graduated high school so I want to make sure I look my best. The dress will get plenty of use with back to school sorority events and such.

After the mall I headed into NYC. To contribute to the checking off of my To-Do List, my cousin and I walked around Central Park (check) for a little bit. I saw the cutest couple taking wedding pictures.. and was abruptly reminded of my own singleness. From there, we headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (check). The artwork was beautiful and the roof top bar wasn't bad either! :) From there we headed to dinner, and eventually to a bar. I ended up talking to this nice guy who wants to take me out next weekend and who am I to deny him that. Crappy timing seeing as how my internship is winding down. If youve been reading previously, you know about the prior boy saga... it was nice to have someone be interested and give compliments, even if nothing comes of it. And maybe I realized the next day via Facebook that he wasnt as cute as I thought while in my wine/sangria/mojito haze. But thats neither here nor there.

My cousin had the genius idea for us to get pizza at 4am and go sit on the quad at Columbia. The campus was gorgeous even in the middle of the night. Suddenly, it started to rain. It really was like a scene out of a movie. We were running around like crazies getting completely soaked but in a strange way it was calming. It was the happiest I had been in weeks without getting strangely emotional. I think for whatever reason in that moment I realized how much this summer had changed me. And it made me very excited to see what the future has in store.

OH MY GOSH!!!

THIS just made my day, or perhaps, my entire life!

FEELING THE 'LOVE'
Flashing her signature smile, Julia Roberts exits her trailer on the New York set of Eat, Pray, Love, her new film based on Elizabeth Gilbert's bestselling memoir. Costarring Javier Bardem (not pictured), the film is slated for a 2011 release.

Am I the last person on Earth to hear about this? I LOVED Eat, Pray, Love. I don't know if I can wait until 2011 for this to come out! Ahh!

SWAP!

JGIWC is hosting a monogram swap! Head over and leave her a comment by noon today (Friday) if you want to join in the fun!

I might have a problem..

Boy do I love me some online shopping. It truly is the best of both worlds... Getting mail AND getting new things! Genius I say! Well, about a month ago I posted about an early birthday present from my lovely mother. I had ordered this bag...

Isn't she prretttyyyy?! Not to mention the fantastic quality of this picture from my new Blackberry 8900. Take that iPhone! Haha. Well, you would not believe the headache that I had to endure to finally get this bag. The company I ordered it from has been my go to vendor for 2 of my other 3 Longchamp totes. Never had a problem.. until now. About a week and a half had passed when I realized I had not even received an email with a UPS tracking number like they said I would. So I called the store, and the woman tells me "We had been trying to call you for a while.. the peony tote is out of stock so if you pick another color we can have it embossed and ship it out to you." Hmm... A. She had not been calling as my cell phone number was entered when I purchased the bag online and B. my credit card had already been charged. So she checks again and gets on the line and says "We have it in our files that UPS delivered the package to you on this date. It was left outside your door." Nope.. that never happened. So she checks her records again, gets back on the line and says "Oops.. we mailed it to the wrong house number. That person must have it." Okay I could understand the mistake if she was going off of a handwritten order, but the address was TYPED clear as day so this really should not have happened. I had to leave the little old man who lives at that address a note only to find out he took the package up to the condo office. But after all that mess, I finally got the bag. I still feel like I should call the company and ask for a discount on my next purchase, if there is one.

And to add to the excitement, I just got a $100 gift card in the mail for Sunglasses Hut after cashing in some of my credit card points. Hello new Raybans! I have been loving the classic look of the Wayfarers for a while so they will soon be mine! Yesterday HB&HB did a quick post about the Tory Burch Private Sale and before I knew what I was doing I had ordered this...

I know that I have a very skewed perception of the difference between want and need but a $275 wallet for $82.. I am pretty sure I NEEDED it.

Thank goodness its Friday! This week has certainly been dragging along.

P.S. My birthday is a month from today! I am slowly formulating the list of things that I might need/want!

Just one of those days...

My apologies for my near week long hiatus. I have been in the midst of a mini life rut as I like to call them. Nothing big, just think that spending the summer away from home and friends is starting to wear on me a little bit.

Went up to move the couches into my town house with roommate L this weekend. Everything is really coming together and I think we will have the cutest house on the block come August. I've still got some great ideas for cute decorations and just making everything cohesive. I want it to be the antithesis of college living.. you know the random patio chairs in the dining room and things of that sort.

If youve been reading you know of the boy who was going to come visit but didnt etc etc etc.. well without beating that story into the ground, lets just say that I saw him this past weekend and he still is one of the most difficult people to understand that I have EVER encountered in my life. I need to move on.. anyone know any eligible bachelors because I know that until there is someone else to focus my energy on I am still going to be caught up in this mess.

I know that our girlfriends are our sounding boards for the good things and the bad. We want them to congratulate us on the good and mend our broken hearts after the bad. This past week during said life rut I have felt like my friends, well two specific ones, have been in competition mode. I know I am the first one to want to brag about something I have accomplished but I think that timing is really key. No, I don't want to hear about how your most recent guy told you he loved you and you said it back while I am in the midst of my life rut. I am ALWAYS the emotional cheerleader and this week I was just at my fill. I, of course, told her how I happy I was for her but it didnt take away from the feeling that she was throwing it in my face. Or perhaps I am just overly sensitive due to it being that dreaded time of the month.

Work has been good this week.. my boss is giving me more things to do because he says I am picking it all up pretty quickly. I am SO glad that I have enjoyed what I am doing this summer and also that I am good at it. My boss is well known and respected in this field so to have his approval is huge to me. Yesterday I began working on designing a pension plan for a home healthcare aid agency. And while it takes a bit to get all the pieces together, when it finally works out its such a feeling of accomplishment. That's my science brain speaking.. I really do love a good puzzle!

On to more fun things... I know a lot of you are absolute geniuses when it homes to home decor. The couches that my parents so lovingly gave us are sort of an olive green color. We have a couch, love seat, and oversized chair so right now the room sort of looks like it is overflowing with green. Is there any way I could liven up the room without having to go to far into the earth tones for accent pillows and such? It is a bright room so I dont want the furniture to bring it down. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated! :)

*I would say the color is pretty close to this picture.

Hope your weeks have been going well.. its almost Fridayyyy!! Roommate L and I are going out for some sushi and a movie, The Ugly Truth with Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. Looks like it will be funny!

Giveaway Alert!

Diamonds, Pearls, and A 'Southern Girl' is hosting a fabulous giveaway! The winner will be able to pick their choice from the A.Tierney bangles. I happen to adore A.Tierney. They have a vendor come to my school once or twice a semester and I love the watch that I purchased from them last year. You can get different ribbon bands for it and it is so easy to change and customize with different outfits. Wanted to share this with all of you although I would much rather keep it to myself so I had a better chance to win!

HAPPY FRIDAYYYY!!! Even though I was off Monday since I was traveling back from home, this week has certainly drug on. Tonight I am headed to PA to meet my parents and move some furniture into my town house! My little brother just graduated from high school so with their three children being off at college next year, they have decided that they need all new furniture.. Hmm.. But I wont complain as we now have great living room furniture as opposed to those hand-me-down frat couches that so many college apartments have. Roommate L will be coming out tomorrow with her madre so she can move in her bedroom furniture. I am thinking about going with a navy blue and hot pink feel for my room.. How do you girls feel about this duvet cover?

It is hard to tell from this picture but it is navy blue with big white poppies. I was thinking with pink shams and sheets it would be nice and bright.

One other question, I LOOOVEEEE my ruffle neck tissue tee from JCrew (I might need to start calling it JCrack as some of you bloggers have so appropriately done). I have been washing it on gentle but the neck is still seeming to unravel a bit. Is anyone else having that problem as well?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! xo

Duly Quoted

There is something very refreshing about a good quote or song lyric. I find it to be comforting knowing that someone I have never and probably will never meet could say/sing something that so accurately describes how I am currently feeling or have felt in the past. I live for the road trips where it is just me and my iPod and I can sing at the top of my lungs or reflect on what the artist is saying and how it translates to my life. On more than one occasion, I have been brought to tears by a song that really just speaks to me. "The Other Little Soldier" by Josh Gracin makes me cry every single time I hear it. Gavin DeGraw is one my favorite singers. I can sense that he takes such care in his writing and really wants his listeners to have a moving experience. A good song is one that can be interpreted in many ways and mean different things for different people. If you have not heard his new CD Free, it is amazing.. one of the rare finds where you can listen to it entirely without skipping songs. Lady Antebellum has a great song titled "I Was Here". I love Hillary Scott's voice and their songs really have a great message. This song, in particular, talks about leaving an impact on the world in some way and I think that your words stick around long after you are gone. One of my favorite quotes has to be "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides" - David Viscott
Do any of you have any favorite quotes that you live by? I can always use new words of wisdom. :)

I'm back!

Literally just walked in the door after a great weekend almost 72 hours at home. The concert was absolutely great, except for the old bag in front of me who was telling me that they couldnt hear me screaming for them! I told her I didnt care and continued screaming. Yours truly somehow convinced herself that I wouldnt be able to take my camera in so I have a bunch of grainy cell phone pics that I will put up in a bit. Elton threw a bit of a diva fit when one of his piano peddles wasnt working and Billy got down there and tried to fix it. But then Elton took off and Billy did his set first. He was by far more of a crowd pleaser as Elton's songs tend to be a little more mellow. I will say that I was a bit bummed that A) Billy didnt play Uptown Girl! and B) There was no encore! As my mom put it, "Even NSYNC did an encore!" The best moment had to have been when Billy held up his ringless ring finger.. as if we all hadnt heard that he was divorcing his 27 year old wife.. or maybe just me due to my compuslive People.com habit . My dad and I were good to go as we had pretty much polished off a White Sangria wine cube from Target. It was soo good! From there we headed to the bar for high school BFF K's 21st birthday. Such a fun end to a great night. There was a huge group karaoke number of Hit Me Baby One More Time which was absolutely hysterical.

Got back into the city around 530 and met up with one of my sorority sisters for dinner. We went to Ayza, a really nice wine and chocolate bar, and I had a yummy chicken panini. Its a wonder I havent grown feathers and a beak yet because I eat soo much chicken. I just love it though! Hopped on the train, that was DEATHLY hot due to the broken AC. Now I am here in front of the TV for my weekly Bachelorette fix. Not too sure who it will be to go this week.. Definitely not Kiptyn as he is the front runner. We shall seeee! Hope you all had fab weekends.. can't wait to read all about them! xoxo

ETA: WOAH WOAH WOAH! Just looked like it will be Ed with the "physical difficulties". Damn the producers and their deceptive editing.

Confession

Before reading this.. please promise to still be my bloggy friends and not throw virtual tomatoes at me or other various items..

Hello, my name is MLD and I returned my iPhone committed a mortal sin . ..sits back down..

I know I know, you can remove your jaws from the floor now. It seems that I am a one in a million, the exception to the rule a la He's Just Not That Into You. And you can stop thinking that you have been reading the blog of a freak of nature, because I assure you I am a normal and fun person! But I did.. I went back into the Apple store and had an experience not unlike the dream when you wind up in the hallways of your school naked. I felt like everyone was looking at me in shock and awe, but I really was not all that fond of the phone. Of course all the Apple geniuses/concierges/minions/greaseballs gave me a hard time, but I stood my ground..even with the fear of God striking me down because I am sure even He has an iPhone.

I was clumsy with the phone and more or less, not hip enough. It was fun while it lasted, but I have reverted back to my old love with the new Blackberry Curve 8900. It came preloaded with John Mayer guitar riffs as ringtones. Game, set, match we have a winner! So there you have it.

Homeward Bound!

This time tomorrow night I will be at home in Virginiaaaa! It will be nice to be back for a weekend and get away from all the mean drivers up here in the North. I swear if you dont have your foot on the gas ready for the exact second the light turns green, there is a fury of horns honking. Breathe in and out people! This weekend is going to be one for the books I am sure as my parents and I are going to see....

ELTON JOHN AND BILLY JOEL!!!!

I am so ecstatic it is beyond words! I have been looking forward to this since February when Mom gave me the green light to get the tickets. I may or may not have gotten the most expensive tickets.. but as I always like to say "When NOT in Rome!" It is going to be a great show.. two musical masterminds in one place. I hope my excitement is screaming through through the screen because I really am that pumped. Tiny Dancer, Piano Man, Uptown Girl..the list goes on and on! It is the first concert to be held at the new Nationals Park in DC and I hear it is a great stadium. I will be taking tons of pictures, perhaps I will reveal the girl behind the blog as well!

Also this weekend is one of my best friends from high school's 21st birthday! The timing couldnt have been better because I doubt I would have been able to come home if her birthday had been on a different weekend. If I can make it back in time after the concert I am going to meet up with everyone for drinks.. and then birthday dinner at the Japanese steakhouse that we ALWAYS go to! The food is great and it will be fun to be around tons of friends. Wishing everyone a great weekend whatever you have planned! xox

Pretty little giveaway!

Rachel over at and if it's a hero that you want, i can save you is hosting a fabulous giveaway! She is giving away a monogrammed Preppy Wine glass customized just for you from Angela at the Preppy Polka Dot! I must admit that I have been eyeing Angela's items for a while, but have not gotten around to purchase anything yet. I am thinking that personalized glasses would be a cute gift for my roommates in the fall. So run, don't walk over to her blog to enter!!

intern does not translate to scapegoat

Caution: Rant dead ahead!

Let me preface this post by saying that I realize how lucky I am to have a paid internship this summer, much less an internship at all. I am learning a lot and really see myself with a career in this field. The people in my office have been quick to teach me and provide me with projects that are challenging yet manageable. I did not, however, take a job to be the brunt of people's poor planning and lack of time management. Yesterday I had a project to work on. As I am working to finish it before I head home at 5, I am then told that we will be "switching gears" Okay that's fine. I happen to have a BS in Multitasking. I have come to learn that this certain individual that assigned me these projects is quick to pass along his work to everyone else. So at 330 yesterday afternoon (!!!) I am told that I need to do all this data entry for a report that needs to be given to the client TODAY! I know that this guy sits in his office pretending to be busy. Believe me, we all have mastered that skill. But alas, he felt it necessary to spend more time explaining what he needed me to do than actually doing it himself. People are awesome.

Not Me Tuesday Morning?

So I may have missed Monday by a smidge but that's okay. I felt this was appropriate..

I definitely have NOT been listening to this song for the last 24 hours or so in my house, car, and office thus solidifying my love for cheesy pop music full of teen angst. Does Jordin Sparks REALLY know if love is like a battlefield? More than likely no.. but I am buying what she's selling. Happy Tuesday everyone! Any guilty pleasure songs for you as well lately?

ETA: This song was absolutely NOT playing on the radio the instant I got into my car this morning. I think it is out of my hands at this point.

The Bachelorette

Just saw a preview for tonight's episode of the Bachelorette. I am thinking that since they started out with 30 men this season that the proposal is coming next week when there is a Final 3 instead of a Final 2? That could be dramatic. Two things immediately came to mind..

1.) Why is this show so addicting? I know as well as everyone else that they NEVER stay together. Other than Trista, Ryan, and their adorable children. And of course she would be the only success story as she is an alumna of my sorority.

2.) It can't be the "MOST DRAMATIC ROSE CEREMONY/PROPOSAL EVER" every single season. Sorry Chris Harrison.. the shock has worn off and you might think about getting a new catch phrase.

If Jillian knows what is good for her she will get rid of Wes tonight.. Unless she has to go from 4 to 2? And who is it that is having problems with "physical intimacy"? Sounds a bit messy..

Johnny Depp makes me swoon!

Hello everyone! Hope that your holiday weekends were great! Mine was very eventful and I am glad that we finally got some good weather. Headed into the city with roommate L and her friend from high school to another of her friend's apartment. Sat on the roof all day sipping on some great margs and finally got a bit of sun not of the ultraviolet variety. Later in the night the roof was taken over by another resident and about 40 or 50 of her hipster friends. We were out numbered to say the least and I quickly became the only one dressed to the occasion in my navy and white polka dot top and white shorts. There were random people sloshing into the apartment to use the bathroom but it all made for a humorous night. This morning we got up and went to a great little cafe for brunch. The omelets and mimosas were just the right thing for a mid morning pick me up. I then headed uptown to meet my cousin and we decided to go see Public Enemies.
WHAT A GREAT MOVIE! I usually am not the biggest action movie fan but the cinematography was excellent and Johnny Depp was stellar. I immediately called my best friend J after leaving the theater and told her that I might need to find me a decent bank robber (if such a thing exists) because John Dillinger (Johnny Depp's character) knew all the right lines to make a girl melt instantly. Christian Bale was as gorgeous as ever. If you have not seen this movie yet I highly recommend it! After the movie we headed to a great little Peruvian restaurant and had the most amazing chicken with a side of avocado salad. It was delicious! I am now safely home and exhausted but it was a great weekend. I cannot believe how quickly this summer is going by. Hope everyone has a great Monday.. as far as Monday's go :)

Happy Fourth!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! I personally cannot think of a better place to call home. I am thankful everyday for all that this great nation has given me and my family. I am thankful to my father and all of the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces. I am thankful for the rights that I have and the opportunities for my voice to be heard. It is a bit sad to be away from home on this holiday as there is nothing like the 4th in our nation's capital (No offense NYC, it has been a GREAT summer!) My favorite 4th of July memory was a few summers ago when we were on the roof of a family friend's apartment on Pennsylvania Ave looking out at the fireworks over the Washington Monument and the Capital building. It was a truly beautiful sight. Hope everyone has a great holiday today and takes a second to stop and think about how fortunate we are!

Is it raining AGAIN?!

iPhone and I are safely home after a short day at work. The laundry piles are glaring at me a bit and I am trying to channel my inner Sabrina the Teenage Witch/Alex Mack powers so that they will walk themselves to the washing machine. I'll keep working on that I suppose..

A quick catch up on two awards I received from two fabulous new blog friends. Lucky in Love gave me this little gem. She has given me some great advice lately and she's an absolute sweetheart!

The Honest Scrap award comes with a caveat or two. **First, you have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know but that are true. **Second, you have to tag 10 people with the award. **Third, let all the people you've given the award to know that they've gotten it (comment on their blogs or something). **And finally, make sure you link back to the person who awarded you."

Let's see...

1. I have never broken a bone or gotten stitches.

2. I danced competitively growing up but once high school started I quit dance for cheerleading.

3. I compulsively check People.com and can tell you so much useless celebrity trivia that it is absurd.

4. I have the same birthday as Cal Ripken Jr and Chad Michael Murray and it is in less than 2 months!!

5. My mom knows everything I have ever done. EVERYTHING.

6. I would bet that I have seen every episode of Full House that exists because when we lived in Japan we only had two channels in English so a friend back home would send us tapes of all the episodes.

7. My favorite song is Belief by Gavin DeGraw.

8. My first concert was the NSYNC No Strings Attached tour with Pink and Sisqo.

9. I could eat sushi for every meal for the rest of eternity.

10. I had my palms read when I was a junior in high school and she told me that my significant letter is R. Hmm..

I give this award to any/all of my followers. I am very glad that you all have decided to come along on this ride with me!

The second award I received comes from It Ain't Always Pretty But It's Real.
Thanks so much!

The Rules:
1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.

2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you have newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

I give this award to...
A Boston Belle
A Girl Can Dream
Preppy Southern Princess
Pink Makes the World Go 'Round
dreaming in pink and green

Side note: Over the course of me writing this post, it has gone from sunny to dark clouds and torrential down pour to sunny again. What is going on with this weather?!

I DID IT!

After much internal back and forth, I got off work yesterday and my car somehow directed me to the Apple store. I am now the proud owner of an iPhone 3G. It made more sense simply go with the 3G and upload the new operating system software rather than pay another $100 for a compass and voice control that I will never use. I have to say that I will sadly miss my Blackberry Messenger but the iPhone can do a whole world of things and I think this was a good purchase. $140 total with a sleek pink case and I am a happy girl. I can't help but think about all the people who were camping out for hours and paid 5 times what I paid.

To make today even better, just got an email from my boss saying that we can close at 2:30 today. Hooray for holiday weekends. On a comical note, this is what I am wearing today... Navy blue JCrew chinos with anchors, a white top, and coral cardigan from Ann Taylor. It wasnt until I got to the parking lot of my office that I realize I look a bit like the 4th of July poster child. Awesome.

Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC holiday weekend full of fireworks, food, and friends!

Wednesday/Thursday

Since this is a shortened week.. I suppose that makes today my Thursday! I am liking the sound of that. Plans for this weekend are sllloowwlllyyy coming together. It is looking like it will be a low-key celebration with my roommate L and some of her high school friends. With a pending paycheck.. a new outfit may be just the thing I need. (My roommate A always tells me that I have a very skewed perception of the word need, but I am more than okay with that!) I was thinking about making one of those flag cakes with the Cool Whip and fruit but then I had to snap back to reality and realize that I would probably mess up something even that simple due to my lack of being able to do anything in the domestic ball park. My poor future husband..

In other news.. I have been a Blackberry user for about two years but I became eligible for an upgrade yesterday. Love my Blackberry, hate the lack of battery life. I charge it every night.. and it lasts barely a day. My younger brother has an iPhone and now with the release of the new model and price cut on the old model.. I am considering taking the plunge. The news, however, has recently reported that the new 3GS models have been overheating. Truthfully I can live without the video camera and the compass and for $99 I am considering going with the 3G. Anyone have the new model? Has yours been overheating? Like it better than a Blackberry?

I am so excited for this upcoming semester. My aforementioned roommates/sorority sisters and I are living in the cutest townhouse off campus. L and I went up a few weekends ago to move a few things in and purchase a few things. We have more wine glasses than is appropriate, but it is going to be a great time living with them. I now am on the hunt for new bedding/accessories for my new room. It is going to be so great to have a human size bed after suffering with the XL dorm issued mattresses. I really love the look of the Anthropologie bedding.. although none of the ones I like come in Full. Do they make Full size bedding? The hunt continues...
