Well hello...

Hello to anyone still out there. Where did this past month go? I have certainly been running around like a crazy person, so here is a quick run down on the past 30+ days of my life.

*Summer boss's son decided that he wanted to work for his pops. I get it, I really do. If my dad owned his own business I would totally be all about it. But in this case, son trumped stellar fabulous wonderful summer intern so my grand plan fell through. He did send out a very nice email to all of his peers in the area and I have been in touch with a few people. I have a phone interview/discussion today!

*I flew down to Nashville for an interview with a recruiter. I wish I had more time there, but I really liked what little I saw of Downtown. It went really well and he told me that he had high hopes for me. I need to pass my first exam (the field I am entering has a series of exams and accreditations, etc etc) , and hopefully go from there!

*Two best friends from home came for visits. I am always skeptical about blending friends from different aspects of my life but I think they both enjoyed themselves! Middle of Nowhere, PA is a bit to get adjusted to but we definitely have fun here.

*Graduation announcements have been ordered, party invites have been sent out. Crazy crazy! I know all my friends from last year said that this time would fly by but I really wasnt expecting it to be this quick! This semester has gone by in an instant. Currently looking for dresses to wear under my gown. Any suggestions? I dont want to be too hot as we will be out on the Academic Quad for hours and we all know those gowns are less than breathable!

Hope this last month has been good to all of you!

Woo!

Scored these bad boys today... since my FAVORITE pair seem to have vanished into thin air.
And for $39 on Haute*look, I didn't even have time to talk myself out of them! Settling in for some American Idol. Am I the only one that thinks this show is on its way out? Now that Simon is leaving after this season I am not sure there will be much to watch. But Millionaire Matchmaker is new tonight! Yay!

I got sunshine...

Oh my goodness.. It is BEAUTIFUL outside! I could not be happier. My mood is exponentially better when it is warm and sunny out. I cannot wait for Spring to finally arrive! Happy Monday to you all and I hope that it is sunny and warm wherever you are! Quick weekend recap...

Friday night I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D! Johnny Depp was as cooky as ever as the Mad Hatter. For a lot of it, I really couldnt understand what he was saying but he was still great. I guess I fault my own ignorance because although I knew that the Disney version was completely different, it was all I knew. The effects were great so I would recommend it!

Saturday I had to go to a training for a committee I am on and finish some school work. It was so nice out and I was stuck in the Engineering building for a few hours but was glad that when I was done our afternoon party with one of the fraternities was still going on so I stopped by for a bit. Saturday night was pretty quiet. I watched To*p G*un and did some work. I can't stand To*m Cr*uise in the slightest but I do love that movie!

Sunday was another gorgeous day out so roommate L and I decided to go on a walk. We circled the golf course and it was just nice to be outside in the sun! We stopped at the coffee shop on campus and got some smoothies and sat out in our backyard. We of course watched the Oscars and I can say that I agree with all of your best/worst dressed picks so I won't go into that.

I was so happy for San*dra Bu*llock. Her speech was great and I LOVED The Blind Side. I was sobbing through the entire movie. I think next year I want to make it my business to see all of the Best Picture nominees, but I do think that 10 is a bit too many.

Spring Break is next week and while I would LOVE to be somewhere tropical, home in VA will suffice. This semester is going too quickly! After Spring Break I have some sort of event every weekend. We have a big Greek party weekend, Spring Concert, Spring Formals, my mom's birthday, my brother's birthday, and before I know it May will be here and college will be over. What a whirlwind!

Here's to a great week and great weather! :)

Hurry Up Spring!

Man oh man... This winter is really taking its toll on me. It feels like its been winter FOREVER. The snow, the rain, the gloom. Seasonal depression is in full force. And seasonal depression + senioritis = A BAD COMBINATION! Hope you are all making it through this rough February. 3 months from the 23rd and I will be walking across the stage on a (hopefully) sunny warm May day on my beautiful academic quad with my family and best friends around me. Woohooo! I know I will be sad when its all over but I am getting SO bored of the everyday here. Its a vicious cycle for me, established at a young age of moving around due to my dad being in the military. 2 and 3 years and I am ready for the moving boxes, new bedroom, new town, new school, new friends. So maybe its a little different now but I know that feeling that I get when I yearn for something new and different and it is definitely present right now.

Friends M, M, and L and I are going to Penn State this weekend. Should be a fun time if the weather decides to cooperate with us. It will be a nice change of scenery since we go to a tiny school where everyone knows everything about everyone, often before it even happens. Sneeze and someone across campus has already heard about it. Sometimes I wish I had gone to a bigger school, but no use worrying about it now.

Still waiting to hear back from my summer boss... I sent him an email a few weeks ago just to be in touch again about working for him after graduation. He said he would call last week but its been 2 weeks and no phone call. I know he is a very busy man, but I am getting antsy not knowing if I need to start looking elsewhere for a job, something that I really thought I would be able to avoid at all costs. So keep your fingers crossed that I get some good news!! Please and thank you! :)

I am literally itching to wear a sundress and some comfy sandals. I NEED A TAN LIKE YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE! I usually subject myself to the harsh UV rays of a tanning bed, but I have done without that this winter and it is VERY APPARENT. I have never been this shade of pale in my entire life. The mental shopping list is full. Now I just need to get my butt in gear as far as working out is concerned.

Happy Friday to you all! Next week it will be March! Holy crap.

Weekend at Home

Happy start of a new week to all of you! My weekend at home was a nice little refresher. The traffic was killer due to the government opening back up on Friday after the snowpocalypse that the Mid-Atlantic region received. It should have taken me 45 minutes to get home after I dropped my friend off in Arlington but of course with I-95 the way it is, IT TOOK ME THREE HOURS!!

Did some shopping and a movie with my mom and friend L on Saturday. We saw Valentine's Day and it was way cute. Great cast and definitely some funny parts. I think Anne Hathaway's character was my favorite, she was hysterical. I won't spoil it for those of you that plan to see it. I picked up a few shirts, belt and cardigan from B*anana Rep*ublic, a pair of super cute gray Cole Ha*an pumps, and some Han*ky Pank*ys. I have a true problem when it comes to buying underwear. I HAVE SO MUCH! Oops.

On Sunday, my mom's really good friend and her husband from Maine stopped in as he has business all along the East coast this coming week. We went to a great new restaurant for Valentine's Day lunch. I picked up a cheap pair of jeggings (jean leggings) to see how I feel about them. I will report back after I wear them.

For those of us who are unattached on this day after Valentine's Day... this showed up on my home page today and I thought I would share.

*HOW TO ENJOY BEING SINGLE*

1. Ignore the naysayers. In a couple-driven consumer marketing society, you're bound to come across people who wonder why you're single, as if the ultimate goal in life is to pair up with another human being and cling to that ideal as if your life depends on it. They might even imply that something's "wrong" with you if you're single. Brace yourself for that kind of ignorance. Remember that you don't have to defend your singledom, just like it's rude to attack the validity of someone's relationship. Just say "I prefer being single" and change the subject or mention that statistics show that 1/2 of all people are single.

2. Focus on friendship. Being single doesn't have to mean being lonely. When you're single, you have more time to do a variety of things, all of which are opportunities to forge new friendships. Even if you're an introvert, this can be an excellent time to nurture your extroverted side. But social butterflies can grapple with loneliness too. Make it a priority in your life to create meaningful friendships and enrich your existing ones.

3. Enjoy your freedom. Everybody has radical little fantasies...and the chances of pairing up with someone who shares such a fantasy with equal fervor is not something to hold your breath for. So what are you waiting for? Find some people who have the same idea, or just go for it alone, and you'll meet like-minded people along the way.

4. Appreciate the absence of compromise. Classic relationship advice dictates that compromise, sacrifice are essential to a healthy relationship. Perhaps if you've been in a relationship before, you realize how much stuff you had to give up in order to make that relationship work. Or maybe you forgot about that stuff, because you're focused on the things you miss. Well, this is a good time to shift that focus. If you're a slob, isn't it great to be able to leave your stuff laying around, without anybody minding? If you're a neat freak, isn't it wonderful to be able to organize everything, and find it the way you left it? Isn't it nice to be able to cook and eat and enjoy foods that a partner might be averse to? Isn't it cool to be able to go out spontaneously, without wondering whether your partner can or should be invited? A relationship can add many good things to your life, but it also adds some rigidity, so take the time to appreciate your current flexibility.

5. Cherish the excitement. Relationships tend to come along with planning--for example, you can't just accept a job across the country without touching base with your significant other. And generally, if you're in it for the long haul, you'll likely talk about what you'll be doing years from now. But when you're single, the future is completely open. Today you're at your desk, and a year from now you might be camping in Alaska. Right now you're single, but tomorrow you might meet your soul mate. Who knows? Fantasize. Be spontaneous. Be bold.

6. Spoil Yourself. Being single gives you a lot more "you" time. Go spoil yourself! Get a pedicure, go shopping, get a massage, and pamper yourself!

"I'm single because I was born that way." - Mae West

How's that for the silver lining? Hope everyone has had a great Monday. Friday is only 4 days away!
