whirlwind.

The fact that it is the Monday after Thanksgiving {definitely the coldest day we have had so far} and that Wednesday is the first of December is really blowing my mind. It feels like I was just ringing in 2010, and now it is almost time to bid it farewell. Back in New York, stuffy nose in tow. This is right on schedule for me actually. I always get the same cold 3 or 4 times a year. It used to be timed perfectly with the start of each new semester, which was always a blast {sike}. It was a great trip home but I was pleased to be back in my own little space. Got into the city at around 6 last night, met up with my cousin to see the new movie The King's Speech with Colin Firth. I hadn't even seen a preview for it but it was a sold out show for a Sunday night. The movie was excellent, I highly recommend it.

- Friend C from home's visit

- Mom got me tickets to the NYC Ballet to see the Nutcracker!

- my 5 girlfriends and I are having a holiday potluck dinner. Yum yum!

That last event is where I need your help... I need something pretty easy that I can make and transport into the city but that won't take up too much time because I don't want to cut into my friend's visit. Or better yet something I could make Thursday before she arrives that would still be good to eat on Sunday when we have our get together. I am a complete domestic disaster as we have seen recently so any go-to recipes you may have would be greatly appreciated!

Finally finally caught up on Glee while I was home. I don't know if it is possible for me to love this show anymore. The situation with Kurt is really breaking my heart, I hope he doesn't transfer schools. I personally thought Gwyneth was great in her episode! 

monday to friday.

Short work week, woohoo! Today is Monday, tomorrow is Friday. 5 day weekend, sounds fabulous to me. I keep forgetting that I no longer have a 6 week vaca in the middle of the winter to look forward to. Real world, you are cruel. College kids, embrace your long breaks. They run out after 4 years.

Anywhoooo... this past weekend was too much fun. I went to the Notre Dame vs. Army game at Yankee Stadium. It was cold, but a great time.

Ah, we made it! Thank goodness, I was worried there for a bit around the middle that this week would never end. But finally, the weekend is here!


I am SO excited! Just got a text from one of my sorority sisters C who is now living in Manhattan asking for my address so she could send me my invite to her holiday party! I was getting sort of bummed looking at all the posts about holiday party dresses and not having anywhere to go. My office is small so we don't do anything big for this time of year, but I am told there will be a dinner at some point. I think its great that she is sending out paper invites. I know that the e-vites are the easy and efficient way to go but I am excited that my first grown up holiday party is coming complete with an adorable {so I've been told} invite in the mail. And who doesn't live snail mail?! This girl sure does ;)  And now the million dollar question... WHAT ON EARTH WILL I WEAR?! 


Speaking of paper correspondence, I am trying to decide which cards I like to send out to my girlfriends this year. My parents are going to be sending out our photo cards to all our family friends but I wanted to do something on my own. I really am loving the following options via kate spade:

wee bit.. on thursday.

It's almost Friday, I cannot come up with anything interesting on my own to talk about today so I am thankful for Leigh Ashley and her pre-packaged questions for me to answer. Enjoy! 





{one} what time do you normally wake up?the snooze button and i are best buds. i usually set my alarm for 7:30 and snooze until 8. this morning however, i was awake at about 7:15 so i hopped into the shower and the water was luke warm at best. lesson learned.

{two} do you have a go-to song for karaoke?

nope, i cant say i enjoy karaoke much.
{three} if you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see?blue, so i could still see the sky and the ocean.
{four} what color best matches your personality?pink.
{five} if you could choose one meal to cook better than anyone else, what would it be?at this point i would take cooking any meal well period, not even better than anyone. that's how lacking i am in the culinary skills department.
{six} how many keys do you have on your key ring?too many. 5 for my apartment alone: front building door, back building door, dead bolt, my door, and mailbox. then my car key, and the key to my parents house.
{seven} do you give your pets birthday/christmas gifts?ive never had a pet other than a hamster and some hermit crabs. and they never got any gifts. deprived childhood much?
{eight} when your plate has different foods on it, do you mix or not?i try to alternate bites of food so that i finish each food at the same time.
{nine} if you could hire someone to do one thing for you all the time, what would it be?wash the dishes! i dont know how anyone lives without a dishwasher. hand washing dishes has got to be the worst chore ever.
{ten} when flying, do you prefer the window or aisle seat?window, i love the clouds and seeing the city lights.

pre-teen dream.

While I realize that yesterday I was against the preemptive arrival of the Christmas spirit, I couldn't help popping this bad boy into my CD player last night on my drive home from work...

 

I am not ashamed in the least. I still carry a serious torch for these 5 boys, and listening to this CD really brought me back to middle school. Granted the entire thing is scratched and I could only make it through half of the songs before it started skipping, but I love it. All this hub bub about NKOTB and BSB going on tour is really making me want an NSYNC reunion to happen. How great would that be?! I wish I could find my Hanson Christmas CD, that was another great one.

Just got a text from my sister and we have officially begun the hardest part of the Holiday season, the hunt for what to get my mother for Hanukkah. She is the hardest, yet easiest person to shop for. She will usually say something along the lines of "All I want is for the three of you {brother, sister, and I} to get along all the time." How frustrating! And also, how impossible. I feel like she has most things she would want or need, she is always going shopping so it needs to be something that she wouldn't necessarily pick out for herself, maybe something my parents can do together? Any good ideas for parental gifts? I am really stumped this year!
